Reserves
The company holds a Mining Licence Agreement covering 900 hectares, only a fraction of which has been exploited. The Mining Licence is valid until 2017, with the right of renewal provided the mine is still in production. Current output over recent years has been between 10,000 and 12,000 tons per annum.
It is estimated that current reserves, adjusted to a grade of 50% Al2 O3 ,stands at 2 million tons. This would give the mine a life of 166 years at present rate of mining. However, plans are in hand to double production to 20 000 tons per annum, or higher depending on markets. This gives the operation flexibility in line with predicted increase in demand. Reserves could sustain output of 50 000 tons per annum with further investment, giving a life of 40 years.
